At the March 7, 2022 Council meeting the governing body approved Charter Ordinance No. 2022-0001 exempting the City from the provisions of K.S.A. 12-1651, providing substitute and additional provisions which relate to the official naming of an official newspaper. The Charter Ordinance also stated that the governing body shall designate, by resolution, the City of Leon’s website (www.cityofleon.org) as the official city newspaper. The Charter Ordinance takes effect 61 days after final publication. No petition has received and it will be 61 days since final publication on May 20th, that is when the Charter Ordinance will be in effect. On March 7th, the City Council adopted Resolution 02-2022 officially designating the city website as the official city newspaper for legal notices that do not require publication in a newspaper of general circulation.
