The Lion Pride Committee will be recognizing someone from our community monthly for citizen/organization of the month. We have so many people that deserve a spotlight for all the things they do.
September:
This month our recipient is The Rebekah's Lodge. They do so many things for our community with the few active participants they have. Giving to the community by providing school supplies, Easter eggs for the hunt, Halloween candy and helping with food when needed for functions. They have been in Leon since October of 1911 where they started in the top part of the Prairie House, they are now located between the Mercantile and the Post Office. Their mission is to spread friendship, love, and truth to the community they serve. The Rebekah's are an organization that has international membership and we are fortunate and happy to have the ones we do, helping our community. If you would like more information on the Rebekah's or would like to find out how to join you can contact Linda Anderson for more information.
If you have someone you feel should be recognized please shoot us a private message and let us know. Remember our “community” includes all of the USD 205 school district.

The Lion Pride Committee will be recognizing someone from our community monthly for citizen of the month. We have so many people that deserve a spotlight for all the things they do. This month our recipient is Jane Boucher, or as some call her Janie. Jane works tirelessly at keeping our downtown flowers beautiful. She waters them and keeps them looking fresh. She will grab those weeds trying to grow around the areas also. Janie keeps the Senior Center area looking fresh and vibrant too. During her off time she stays busy with her hairdressing business “A Cut Above” and her yard looks beautiful with all the back bending time she puts into it. When you see her around tell her you appreciate all of her efforts to keep our Main St. looking fresh!!

Last month’s recipient was George Laidler, or as most call him “Butch”. Butch requested his picture not be taken; in all honesty he didn’t want to be recognized at all but since we know he is a good sport we will just include it on this one. Jane is so nice she doesn’t mind him coat tailing on her post!!! (lol) Butch is always around at our functions, we aren’t sure if it is by his own free will, but he is always there with a helping hand or caution tape and cones. He helps with a smile sometimes when his wife is bossy it is a grimace but….If you see Butch around give him his shout out too.
